Six Inches of Soil Film Screening and Discussion

  • Macclesfield Community Hall 425 Macclesfield Road Macclesfield, VIC, 3782 Australia (map)

Land owners, farmers and community members are invited to attend the showing of the heralded ‘6 Inches of Soil’ film, championing a sustainable/regenerative approach to agriculture.

The film is an educational and stimulating documentary telling the story of farmers and communities embracing a more sustainable approach to agriculture where precious on-farm resources and the environment are protected and enhanced while delivering healthy food.

Given that 30% of the world’s cropland has become unproductive in the last 40 years, this approach to farm management is long overdue and provides practical examples of how to manage our precious “6 inches of soil”, or in Macclesfield’s case perhaps 4” or less of soil.

Following the film a panel discussion with experienced land carers and experts on sustainable agriculture will answer questions and discuss the relevance and local implications of this film.

Why should this film be of interest to me?

  • ‘6 Inches of Soil’ describes the journey of three farmers pursuing a sustainable/regenerative agriculture

  • The film will stimulate our quest for a healthy productive soil while caring for the environment

  • It will Illustrate the important community links in the’ farm to plate’ supply chain

  • Affirm that a regenerative agricultural approach also reduces global greenhouse emissions

The afternoon will commence with the screening of the film, followed by a break for an amazing afternoon tea, then the viewing of the second half of the film. We’ll wind-up with the panel discussion and audience Q&A.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the event.
